This site has been developed to highlight one of the aspects of working at Cairncross & Hempelmann that is enjoyed by all - our collection of Northwest Masters artwork. The collection, started 20 years ago by founder H. Raymond Cairncross and Chairman John Hempelmann, includes an array of pieces by artists of the NW Masters School, including Guy Anderson, William Cummings, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves, Mark Tobey and others. The collection has become even more relevant to everyone at C&H since the office moved to the Collins Building in 2001. It is no secret that the Collins Building (1893) was once an artists' colony populated by some of the greats of the Northwest Masters School; in fact, a stroll through the lobby outside our reception area includes a number of Mary Randlett images that captured some of those artists back in the day. The buildout of the Collins Building was created with several goals in mind, including: the desire to best reflect the personality of the firm, but also to highlight the collection in a way that allowed everyone to enjoy their surroundings, and find something new and stimulating around every corner. In fact, periodically the art is re-arranged and we all have the opportunity to enjoy the occasional previously undiscovered treasure. After all, in many cases we spend more time at the office than at home; and we believe a comfortable and stimulating work environment best generates creative and exciting work product. If you would like a tour of the collection, please ask your attorney at Cairncross & Hempelmann - we're happy to share it with you.
